2023 FIRST World Championships

Competition, Spring 2023

We were near Houston for a track meet and we were able to modify our schedule to make it to the FIRST Robotics World Championships at the George R. Brown convention center in downtown Houston.

The atmosphere was ELECTRIC!  There were 50,000 people from 59 countries filling the three levels of the convention center.  Champions were crowned for FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotic Competition. The world championship also showcased several colleges and companies recruiting FIRST students.

In FTC there were 198 teams competing. The competition was split into 4 divisions over three days. Teams who advanced to the finals competed on a fourth day.

We were able to spend a few hours at the championships on Friday before track events. On Saturday we were able to attend the event finals in person. We joined Fulminata #16597 in the stands and cheered on the competing teams.

Even though no teams from Texas advanced to the finals it was very cool to see! The winning 3 team alliance was from Washington, California, and New Jersey.
